A speculative design project that envisions a company that turns women into carefully analyzed commodities. It is intended to satirize and critique the phenomenon of objectifying women in rural areas.

Inspiration

Chained Woman in China

Last winter in China, a woman was found abducted at 14, chained, brutally abused for 26 years, and forced to give birth to 8 children. However, the government did nothing but covering it up. Through research, I discovered this rampant phenomenon of trafficking in women in rural China.

Research

Women Trafficking

According to the latest reports, the price of buying and selling an abducted woman in China ranges from 10,000 RMB to 100,000 RMB.

Mixed Media

The drug, known as the "fetal gender reassignment medicine", has long been circulating illegally among the public, claiming that it can "turn" a female fetus into a male one.

The major reason behind buying trafficked women is "marriage /child- birth".

Design

The design of the logo was inspired by the silhouette of the female body. I extracted the element of circles from the female body fea- tures, the uterus and the embryo.

Women's fertility becomes an objectification of their rights. I envisioned a future company that sells women as a commodity.

1: Perfect education

The four posters address four themes: religion, food symbolism, female fertility, and son preference. Each poster appeals to a different aspect of the target audience. I designed with a clash of colorful collages, vernacular elements, and symbols. I included symbols such as the uterus and eggs (female fertility), the vase (the negative space around it forms the silhouettes of the female bodies), the Child-sending Guanyin, and the spinning prize wheel (the process of "choosing" the type of child and the ability to turn a girl into a boy).
